Gemma and David celebrated their beautiful wedding at the Ashton Court Manor house just outside Bristol. We were very lucky that the storms cleared overnight, leaving us with glorious sunshine ( I was very worried that it’d be my first rain-filled wedding of the summer )
The wedding was fun, full of energy and the venue / gardens were absolutely stunning ( I would definitely recommend Ashton court to any couple looking for the perfect manor-house wedding ) . After dinner, guests were presented with a ‘sweet bar’ alongside the cakes and coffees!
Here’s a sneak peek!

WEDDING: Louise + Jonathan
Louise and Jonathan were married in the lovely oak hall of Westonbirt Arboretum, near Bristol. After the confetti was thrown, they were greeted by their huge great dane. A vintage bus took everyone back to family home for a party to remember!
The talented Emma Espejo assisted me for the day, making sure not a moment was missed. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, and feeding us so well (the hog roast was delicious!!)

WEDDING: Chrissy + Thomas
Chrissy and Thomas were married in a beautiful little church just outside of Bristol. The reception was held at Bristol Zoo’s Pavillion Hotel, and we were given free rein of the entire site!! Monkeys and tigers beware!
Thomas’s family had travelled all the way from Germany to celebrate this special day, bringing with them saxophone solos and choral singing to add even more colour to this already beautiful wedding.
I hope you enjoy the photos guys!!

WEDDING: Kizie + Simon
Simon and Kizie celebrated their marriage at the stunning Eastwood Park. Beautiful people, sunshine and rolling landscapes made this a wedding to remember.
Simon’s “magical trunk of mystery” was certainly a great addition to the evening’s party. The guests went wild dressing up in costumes, taking photographs of themselves through a backlit frame.

WEDDING: Sam + Ben
On the 23rd of July Sam and Ben celebrated their marriage in the beautiful Church of St Mary the Virgin, Tetbury. The Vicar had stipulated ‘absolutely no photographs can be taken during the ceremony’ – fortunately I had been pre-warned, and managed to take a couple of discreet shots with the very quiet Leica M9.
The reception was held in the lush grounds of Eastington Hall. I’d not photographed there before, but the photo opportunities were endless. It was a fun day, with a good energy.
Enjoy the photos…

WEDDING: informal formalities
WEDDING: informal formalities, originally uploaded by Taphouse Photography: Bristol.
I often get couples asking me for ‘relaxed’ photographs and portraits. I believe formal photographs don’t have to be taken in a stressful / formal manner. I like to take a little time with just the bride and groom after the ceremony, pull them away from the buzz of the guests and capture them relaxing in their own company, taking advantage of whatever we find around the venue.
This Adam and Liz relaxing in the library after their ceremony in Milton Keynes.

WEDDINGS: colour
WEDDINGS: colour, originally uploaded by Taphouse Photography: Bristol.
Because of my photojournalistic style, background in street photography and hours spent in the dark room, I have a lot of experience with processing black and white photographs. Sometimes though, a wedding album needs colour!
The bride spends hours working on the colourway for the big day, so it’s very important that their wedding photographs reflect this. I love tweaking the colours, making them all work together, making them pop. There’s a lot more to wedding photography than just taking the photo, some things are just out of my control until I get the image into the editing suite.

The highly reputed WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) have just accredited my work, and given me membership to their association!
“The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) is a professional organization composed of photojournalists and wedding photographers from around the world. What sets our members apart in the industry is their candid, documentary approach – a distinctly artistic vision toward wedding photography.”
“The Wedding Photojournalist Association puts the world’s best wedding photography at your fingertips. We offer a new perspective on wedding photography – quietly capturing the real moments as they happen for the bride and groom. It is our goal to use photography to tell the story of your wedding day, not dictate it for you.”

WEDDINGS: candid moments
Weddings are a time of romance, certainly not exclusive to the bride and groom! Friends and family all share this with people close to them, so i’m always keeping an eye open for those escaping off into their own little bubble. Sometimes it’s a new spark, sometime reminiscing about their own wedding day. I love to catch these moments.
(This was beautiful moment was photographed at a wedding in Dunster Castle, Somerset)
