I spent last night photographing Keda Breeze’s Hoochie Coochie at the White Bear. Full review and photoset will be uploaded to my blog over the next day of two. This is Rowan Faye as she leaves the stage.

BRISTOL: This is Burlesque!

This night came well and truly recommended for one who is interested in the finer things in life; females, corsets and voluptuous lines of the body moving in sync with sweet burlesque rhythms. And, it did not disappoint! Artists featured:

The art tart was a fascinating lady dressed from head to toe in leopard skin of various cuts and materials. With a rouge corset to top of what was the most fantastic MC’s attire. She lulled the crowd into each separate act (1-3), towards two intervals (for guests to catch their breath and reduce body temperature in the court yard as it was HOT!) and finally, to swoon two male victims with her powerful hand jobs (candid caricatures, incorporating their faces into her every drawn line).

First act; Lady Lace- a Devonshire beauty, offering a sweet strip tease that would melt the strongest of cream teas, oozing with fruity smiles and luscious teases of the pointed toe and bottom shake! Later, to cover the stage in talcum powder, flowing from two giant cotton wool puffs, showering the crowd in images of a 1940’s belle in an upturned collared mack, soon down to her refined baby-blue delicates! Not a seamed stocking laddered due to her expert shredding of this second skin, in time with the acoustics! A true spectacle of captivation!

Next Miss Alexandra Hofgartner. A graduate from Circo Media who brought an air of theatrical stance to the show. Her use of fabric to present ‘emancipation’, later as a renaissance-type painting, to come to life as an embroiled Madame butterfly, complete with a delicate petalled bust.

Next, first of three performances from the founder of Bristol Burlesque, Miss. Keda Breeze! First, an array of frills and glitter filed satin gloves to shower the stage in sparkles! Next act, a body suit of balloons, soon to be popped to reveal a most stunning line of crystals covering a mere pinch of Keda’s perfectly lined body. With an explosive finale- leaving the lead lady in nothing but thing-high leather boots and a sense of pure amazement illuminating the audience as the house lights accompanied their smiles and bright eyes!

Later came the Bang Bang Belles fulfilling most school boys’ dream- a cookery class soon to tumble into a flour filled array of corsets, spectacles and poised pouts to rise even the most plain of soufflés!

Sapphira, to have performed at The burning Man festival lit up the stage with royal blue sequins and blonde locks. A singer songwriter, she performed two of her own pieces together with a subtle lessening of garments, ending in a sophisticated portrayal of Australian confidence as she was the first to bare nipples!

This show really must be seen in person to truly experience its marvel, beauty and timeless classic burlesque expertise.

A must see, an absolute must see!

BRECON JAZZ: Moonlight Saving

Emily Wright leads Moonlight Saving Time at the Brecon Jazz festival. Playing arrangements of standards as well as contemporary compositions, featuring Nick Malcolm (trumpet) and Jon Hyde (guitar), Will Harris (bass), Mark Whitlam (drums)

I’m really glad that Emily got in contact and asked me to photograph them playing the Brecon Jazz festival. Although there was such little light for me to work with, I think the images came out well. The music was fantastic, and it was such a great excuse to travel up to wales!
