Church Wedding: St Michael’s Church

A Wedding at Minehead’s St Michael’s church.

Beki & Harry phoned me up late on the Thursday night before their church wedding on the Saturday – their photographer friend could no longer photograph for them, but fortunately I was still available! The wedding was in my home town, Minehead – it was so wonderful to return and to photograph at St. Michaels church up on North Hill.  With a marquee set up in their garden the wedding had a very relaxed and fun feel, much more of a celebration with minimal formalities, which is where my photographic style definitely works best.  The reception started with a beautiful tea party with live Jazz, and with incredible bunting ( some of the best I’ve seen – made from lace doilies ) hanging from the canvas. Later the caterers cooked up fresh paella which was served up after the cutting of the cake.  Beki and Harry then got on the dance floor where Bristol’s Soul Strutters where putting on a lively performance!

A fun and lighthearted wedding, good food, and good people!  Thanks guys!!

Bristol Wedding: Leigh Woods & Clifton Suspension Bridge

A Wedding at the St. Mary the Virgin Church

Sebastian & Laura chose to have their spring wedding at Clifton’s St Mary the Virgin Church in Leigh Woods. The Church is beautiful, with wooded gardens and a red tiled roof – it was the perfect setting for their wedding. The ceremony was lovely, and the vicar kindly let me photograph from behind the alter, letting me get some wonderful portraits of Laura during the vows (I like to use the Leica 75mm F1.4 Summilux for these photographs, you can see why below). Confetti was thrown outside in the garden while the groomsmen were tying tin cans to the back of the convertible for the newly weds’ escape!

We had decided beforehand to visit the Clifton Suspension Bridge, to get some formal photographs of just Seb and Laura. Seb drove the car onto the grass, with the bridge behind him – you can’t beat that for a backdrop!!  After about 40 minutes of walking around and taking photographs we headed over to the reception at the Westbury-on-Tryn Village Hall.  It was a fantastic venue for the party. The staff set everything out and served the drinks, while Seb & Laura added the details and decorations to give the style that they wanted. A friend had set up a huge studio-style Photo Booth in the side room when the hog roast was served. Before the 1st dance, everyone enjoyed an amazing LED poi light show by an enthusiastic kilt wearer – very cool!

I felt so welcome and part of the party – thanks guys for a wonderful day!  I hope you enjoy the pictures :)

WEDDING: Festival Style

Festival style cornish wedding

Han & Mik were married in their beautiful village church near falmouth, Cornwall. They arrived in style, with Han’s Dad driving his vintage Morris Minor (which had been restored for the big day) and the Bridesmaids in a magnificent VW split screen campervan.

The party really started when everyone made their way back to the house where the couple (and friends) had been busy all week preparing the big field for this one day. There’s a huge circus tent in the centre of the field, all set up for the reception feast and dancing in the evening, surrounded by seating, bunting, , candles, wigwams, and bonfires – it was perfect!!

Friends were all invited to camp in a neighbouring fields, so that they could all enjoy the celebration without the worry of having to organise lifts and find accommodation. The fires burned long, and the music played till sunrise!! …what a party.

Enjoy the photos!

WEDDING: Cotswolds

Beautiful Church Wedding in the Cotswolds:

Sarah & Tim were married in the beautiful Winterbourne Church, just outside of Bristol. Although slightly late due to traffic works in the village, the wedding ceremony was lovely and we were then quickly off to the stunning mannor near Tetbury, deep in the Cotwolds. The gardens at Chavenage House were breathtaking, made even more so by the artificial wild flowers that had been left from a film set earlier in the month! Such a beautiful day, and such lovely people – thank you so much for being so welcoming!

The reception was held at the Lyme Regis theatre, with brilliant views of the local firework display. Lit with just candles, and very low ambiant light the photography was hard work, but a great challenge.

Such a warmth from such lovley people, thanks guys! …p.s. Check out that cake!!
